For some reason it does not work in the cygwin bash shell. When I set the message manually (echo -e “\033[31mHello World\033[0m”) in the command the colors appear, but through symfony not. I suspect that the cygwin bash shell miss interprets the returns of php, but why it does work on puttyCyg … probably some startup configuration of the bash ?!</description>

I use putty cyg and there it works. :(

Try to debug the code in the supportsColor to see what it returns on you environment.

I just als just checked the ticket status and as from sf 1.3 there will be option --color to force the colors. So this will only be a temporary fix.</description>
